Our first week of camp set the tone for an unforgettable summer! In honor of America 250, we journeyed back in time to experience life during the Revolutionary War and Civil War eras. Campers didn’t just learn about history — they lived it.

A Civil War Living History to Remember
This week’s special event was a full Civil War living history experience, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to:
Custer Memorial Association
The Rhodes Family
The Walker Family
The Kellner Family
Their time, passion, and overwhelming wealth of historical knowledge — along with their Civil War–era treasures — brought the past to life in a way our campers will never forget. From drills and demonstrations to hands-on exploration, history became real, tangible, and deeply meaningful.
Old-Time Adventures & Frontier Fun
Throughout the week, campers enjoyed classic activities that connected them to the past while building confidence, creativity, and curiosity. Highlights included:
Marbles — a timeless test of skill
Creek walks — discovering nature like early settlers
Hoop and stick games — simple fun with historic roots
Building canvas A‑frame shelters — teamwork meets frontier engineering
Ohio Wildlife History timelines — exploring how nature and history intertwine
Campfire stories — where imagination and tradition meet
Invisible ink messages — learn how spy rings helped us win our freedom
Engineering — build a telegraph and explore the Morse code
These experiences help campers learn without even realizing it — the magic of summer camp at its finest.
