Campers Embrace the Spirit of Competition During Olympics Week

This week, our campers participated in Olympics Week, which is an annual tradition at Country Life Kids Camp that teaches campers what it is like to be an "Olympian" and have a "Champion Attitude", with a focus on attentiveness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Every camper represented one of the countries of Brazil, Mexico, Germany, USA, United Kingdom and Italy.

Brazil

Germany

Mexico

Italy

United Kingdom

United States of America

During Olympics Week, the campers learned new and diverse skills in track and field events. They learned what it takes to jump higher, run faster, and be stronger.

The campers enjoyed friendly competitions between countries and participated in several Olympic-themed events such as Long Jump, High Jump, Javelin, Discus, Shot Put, Torch Sprint Race, Tug of War, Obstacle Course Relay, and Dodgeball Cup.

Throughout the week, the campers put their best efforts forward and challenged themselves to excel in teambuilding challenges. We were very proud of the effort each camper put into this fun-filled week.

The campers were challenged to create traditional food items from their respective countries. Hot dogs, pasta, and tacos were the basic foods used and the campers had to select their own, unique, selection of toppings that represented their countries. The food that was created were judged by our Counselors based on creativity, appearance, description, and taste. There were some interesting, tasty dishes that our campers made.

During Arts & Crafts, our campers created Laurel Wreaths, worn during the "procession of countries" into Friday's Awards Ceremony.

Each country had to design and create their own flag. The campers did an awesome job.

The campers also learned the proper way to fold an American Flag. They competed on folding it in speed and neatness.

Besides the physical game competitions, campers/countries earned points in flag folding, flag creation, laurel wreaths, and the international food creation challenge. The points were accumulated, and campers/countries were recognized at Friday's Award Ceremony.

The Top Three Countries with the most accumulated points for the week were:

Bronze: United States of America

Silver: Germany

Gold: Mexico

Congratulations to all the campers and counselors who participated in Olympics Week. We all had so much fun learning and growing together this week. And thank you to the parents and families who were able to come to the Awards Ceremony on Friday. It was wonderful to have our families at camp.
